Utility Billing

Your Utility Services

We take seriously our responsibility to provide water, sewer & garbage services to the citizens of Othello.

Payment Options

City Hall is open from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday to accept utility payments.  There is a drop-box out front by the flagpole for checks and money orders if you can’t make it in during business hours.  We can also accept your payment for utilities by credit card.  Go to  www.xpressbillpay.com  or call us for information.  There are no fees for this online service.

Water

Meters are read on the 15  th  of each month or the first working day after the 15  th  .  Once we have the meter read the bills are prepared and mailed at the end of the month.  They become due on the 10  th  of the next month.  Any bills that have a two-month balance need to be paid by the 10  th  in order to avoid a notice, which will cost you $20.  This fee can be avoided by making arrangements with the utility billing clerk.  If you do receive a notice, you then have seven days before your water will be turned off.  Again this can be avoided by making arrangements with the utility billing clerk.

Remember the meter boxes are city property.  Only city personnel may enter these boxes.  Please call City Hall at 331-2705 or 488-5686 if the meter needs to be turned on or off for any reason.  If there is an emergency with your water after hours, please call the Othello Police Dept at 488-3314.  They can help you.

Sewer

Sewer is billed per dwelling or by the number of units in a dwelling (There are modifications for commercial users).  We follow a rate schedule established by City Ordinance.  In establishing these rates the City Council considers the operational costs of the system and the future needs of the city.

Garbage

Garbage service is provided through our contract with Consolidated Disposal Services of Ephrata.  Each home should have a plastic toter for once a week pickup or a larger container for multiple residential units.  Your pickup day is determined by where you live.  Toters must be out in their designated alley or street by 7:00 am on your pickup day.  If a toter needs to be repaired or replaced, please call the utility billing clerk at City Hall (488-5686) to request repairs or a new toter.  There is no charge for this service.
