Rental Housing Licensing & Safety Inspection Program
In Feb. 2021, the City of Othello adopted a Rental Housing Licensing and Safety Inspection Program, OMC 4.40. The purpose is to ensure that residential rental units are safe and meet basic state standards, like plumbing and heating.
Landlords are required to register their rental units and have them inspected every 3 years.
- Application
- Inspection Checklist
- Landlord to Tenant Notification (English/Spanish)
If you are a tenant and have concerns about the safety of your rental unit, you have rights under the Washington Landlord-Tenant Act, RCW 59.18. You should work with your landlord first, but if you can't work things out, you can contact the City to find out if your unit has been registered and passed a safety inspection.
