1st Avenue Reconstruction
On August 21, 2017, the City of Othello began its latest major street reconstruction project.
The 1 st Avenue Reconstruction will run from State Route 26 to Spruce Street. Work will include:
Complete reconstruction of the roadway from State Route 26 to Wahluke Street.
Full width grind and overlay from Wahluke Street to Spruce Street.
Installation of stormwater system piping and catch basins.
ADA ramp updates and intersection radius modifications where needed.
The contactor continues to work 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, to get the project finished as soon as possible.
The CTB (Cement Treated Base) subgrade, mixing cement with the aggregate below to create a solid surface under the asphalt, is completed. This was a difficult step in the process since it required several days to cure.
Asphalt is currently scheduled for Oct. 19. It will be crucial to not drive on the new asphalt to prevent damage.
The last 10 days of the project will include pavement markings and signs.
Project completion is expected by early November.
Schedule updates and additional information will be posted weekly.
