2023 Othello Little League Championship

CONGRATULATIONS

TO THE 2023 OTHELLO LITTLE LEAGUE ALL-STARS!

We are excited to announce that the All-Star draft has been finalized. We still have another week to finish up our 2023 regular season and we look forward to seeing you out on the fields.

ALL-STAR PARENT INFORMATION:

Being selected as a Little League All-Star is a great honor. It means your child has been chosen to represent their team and community in their age division. The All-Star experience is fun and exciting. It is the pinnacle of the Spring Little League Season. First, your child will practice almost every day for the dates leading up to the tournament. During this time, you will see a vast improvement in your child’s skills and abilities as they are competing with other players of equal or better ability. This practice time is one of the main benefits of All-Stars. The tournament experience is very challenging as your child’s team will compete against other All-Star teams from surrounding counties. If the team does well, they have the opportunity to move on to State competition.

COMMITMENT:

Along with the honor of being selected as an All-Star, there is a level of commitment expected from the players and parents/guardians. The player is expected to attend the practices and be present for tournament play for as long as the team plays in tournament play. In certain circumstances, this play can last through July. There are also financial responsibilities associated with All-stars. The financial responsibilities may include travel, food, and hotel if applicable. The district tournament is in Walla-Walla this year and the state tournaments are located in areas around the state.

The cost of travel can be expensive. Parents and athletes can fundraise to help with expenses. If selected as an All-Star, playing time and positions are determined by the All-Star coaches and manager, subject to the Little League All-Star rules governing mandatory minimum play. Players who played many innings during the regular season may be asked to play a different role on an All-Star team. This could involve playing a different position, playing fewer innings, and having fewer at-bats. It is a privilege to be selected on an All-Star team that will require commitment and support by all parents and players despite their potential playing time or position played.
